She became a vegetarian, but she couldn’t hold on to it in hard times.
It wasn’t a new diet, but a new love who helped Lenore to get over these
hard times.
Lenore Smith has a full agenda. Besides the role of Kate, the
33-year-old actress also appears in some commercials about health.
‘Especially in my profession it is very important to live as healthy as
possible,’ she says. ‘The film industry is tough. Every day you get up
early and you go to bed late. To keep that up, you have to eat healthy
and go in for sports. That is my "secret", you know.'
Lenore tells that, at the advise of her husband, she became a vegetarian
some years ago. ‘I liked it, but when our marriage broke up a year ago,
I started to eat meat again from frustration and grief. Now I made it a
rule: whatever is healthy to the body. So sugar and colouring agents are
on my "prohibited list".'
Lenore likes aerobic dancing and she likes to ride her mountain bike on
the nearby St. Kilda beach every day. ‘I really love plodding through
the mouldy sand. You forget all your problems because of the effort. But
on the set, I am just very sparingly on my energy. I don’t even talk,
because that will cost energy and you really need the energy for the
takes. What I do on set, is reading. I always have a couple of books
with me and every break I sit quietly in a corner and read.’
Meanwhile, Lenore has an affair with Christopher Stollery, who plays the
part of Johnno in The Flying Doctors. Lenore and Christopher don’t let
their being in love appear while on set, but when they both leave for
home after a day of work, happiness radiates from their faces. To Robert
Grubb, Lenore’s husband in the series, this is a reason to make jokes:
‘During the day I am the one, but when evening falls, I am discarded.’
‘Christopher and I are deliriously happy,' Lenore states. ‘I have
already finished with two marriages, but if I had met him straight away,
it would never have got so far. We live together now, but I think we
will get married in the future. Because isn’t the expression: three
times lucky...
